Studio63 Wedding Photography - Nigel Borrington

Yesterday I received the following email.

“Message: hi, just wondering if u could give me prices on the wedding packages u have. id really appreciate it thanks”

Can I just make a quick point!

From the 10th of October 2011, I no longer post my prices on the web site, the reason for this is that I feel it takes away my chance to talk to prospective customers about their own details i.e.

. Date of the wedding
. The venue’s they have already booked for the wedding.
. Type of package selected from the details I give on the Studio63 web site.
. Length of time and locations, during the day you would like to have my services for.
. Size of the wedding party you expect ( This can relate to number of shots needed for the finished media )

Without wishing to wag a finger at anyone, these are just the basic details that I need to even start to work on the best price that I can offer to a customer.

Two years ago posting an average price worked, but I would now like to work on the best price per wedding.

Kind regards

Nigel

On returning after my summer break (September 2011), I have made a decision to do a full review of my current portfolio along with the direction my photography is moving in over the next months. Even in good times I think this is a good thing to do once a year.

I have kept all my portfolio work over the last years and started to do a review at the weekend. One area of my portfolio I have not posted to date is my Art and Craft work. For starters it’s not exclusively photography and as such I have not wanted to muddy the waters.

However I feel that this work is as much a part of my portfolio history as anything, so I am going to show you some of the work that I submitted in order to pass the Level five course that I attended at the Grennan mill – craft and art school, Thomastown, county Kilkenny.

I attended the course full time between 2005 and 2008 and I enjoyed every minute, its without doubt one of the best things I have ever done and I would recommend this course to anyone.

The course involved the following subjects below and the pictures are from my portfolio in these areas.

Batik, Ceramics, Design, Drawing, Painting, Metal craft, Printing, Photography Textile weaving.

Kilkenny art work and design

So there you are that’s my craft and art work, does it relate to the photography I am currently doing? You bet it does!

This course helped me with the design and vision that I hope I can put into my current work and who knows maybe one day I will come back to a more direct application for it, maybe I already have.

Kilkenny Photography

Murphy family portrait in Castle Park.

These spring days are bringing some more than welcome warm weather after the winter we have experienced, what perfect conditions for outside photography and portraits.

Aoife Murphy contacted the Studio in order to produce some images to mark the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of her parents.

When I first talked to Aoife about producing the images we discussed working inside in the studio, however the weather is good as this April draws to an end that we decided to more everything outside.

Castle Park Kilkenny offers one of the best photographic locations in the centre of Kilkenny so we selected it as our location. We all meet up mid morning and worked on the images for an hour, what fantastic conditions we all had.

I would like to thank the Murphy Family for both the booking and for being so helpful. It was a pleasure to work with them all.

The Rafter family are based in Threecastle Co.Kilkenny and runs one of the country’s best private music schools. Each year the school holds an end of year concert and this year this was held in the Watergate theatre Kilkenny.

The Studio was asked to photograph this concert and it was an absolute pleasure to do so, all the students performed either solo or in groups. In total forty seven acts over a four hour period.
